Northern Greece Ceramics (KEBE) acquires production facilities in Serbia and strengthens its presence in the Balkan market

According to a press release in the first quarter 2024, one of the biggest brick producers of the region, Northern Greece Ceramics (KEBE) proceeds with an investment of over €10 million for the acquisition and upgrading of production facilities in Mihajlovac, Serbia. The production unit is in a strategically important location, just 70 kilometers from Belgrade and on the main road connecting Serbia with neighboring countries.

KEBE will implement a targeted plan to modernize and upgrade the existing production unit, including building facilities amount to 13,000m2 and extend to 117,000m2. At the core of this strategic plan is – at the first stage – the doubling of the production capacity of the factory, from 300 to 600 tons of bricks per day, while by 2027 it is expected to reach 1,000 tons per day, covering key part of the needs of the Serbian market. Considering that the production until now corresponded to older type products, KEBE aims to adopt the latest techniques and standards followed in its production unit in Nea Santa, Kilkis. In addition, the company aims to increase its market share in Serbia, where until recently the products of this production unit covered a market share of around 6 percent. The actions foreseen under the plan are scheduled to start being implemented from March 2024, with the aim of reopening the factory within 2025, while the total investment is expected to be completed in 2027.

The President and CEO of KEBE, Mr. Agis Kothalis, mentioned: “We are very happy to proceed with a strategic investment, which is fully aligned with our business goal for strengthening further our leader position in the construction industry. The modernization and upgrading of the new production facility in Serbia will enable us to meet the future demand for high structural value solutions that respond to modern needs, increasing our production capacity and placing KEBE among the main suppliers of integrated building systems in Balkan market”.

With a track record of 90 years and a strong presence in more than 40 countries around the world, KEBE produces and supplies high quality, reliable and innovative structural ceramic products, and technical support services. The purpose of the company is to continue its leading role in the construction industry, further strengthening its leadership position, both in the Greek and Balkan markets, aiming to create a world, structurally better.
