Location map with collection points published
The Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry and the Federation of the German Construction Materials Recycling Industry have published a map showing the collection points for old bricks as well as building and demolition waste with a high content of clay bricks and tiles. This will further increase the acceptance of waste brick in the recycling industry, says a statement from the two associations.
Among specialist recyclers, demand is growing for single-origin recovered old roofing tiles and fired breakage from ceramic production. To ensure that building owners know what companies in their region specialize in collecting waste with a high brick content, the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry has teamed up with the Federation of the German Construction Materials Recycling Industry to publish an interactive map showing the collection points all over Germany. “The map provides transparency and a huge opportunity to significantly reduce the unnecessary landfilling of valuable materials. The recycling of building materials therefore makes an essential contribution to conserving our environment and resources,” comments Sandra Giern, General Secretary of the Federation of the Construction Materials Recycling Industry in Germany.
The Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry began documenting the material cycle of clay bricks and tiles a long time ago, and has intensified its existing exchange with players from the recycling industry. The goal is to raise awareness of the high-grade recycling of these materials. Besides demolition and recycling contractors, production companies that process waste bricks to vegetation substrates, to aggregates for road, path and sports ground construction as well as to aggregate for recycled concrete are important cooperation partners for the Association. “Clay bricks and tiles are a building material for the future not only on account of their durability, but also because of their unique strengths with regard to the recycling economy,” says Dr Matthias Frederichs, Chief General Secretary of the Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry.
The interactive map is updated continuously and can be found at www.ziegel-recycling.de.
