Second Röben clinker plant completed in Texas
13.11.2023Röben has built a second clinker plant at the site of its American subsidiary Triangle Brick in Clay County, Texas. There, near Henrietta and around 150 kilometres northwest of Dallas, a first clinker plant was already opened in 2016. In the USA, the Röben subsidiary Triangle Brick now operates a total of five plants.
Each of the two plants in Texas produces around 100 million bricks of the American „Modular Size“ format. The kiln was fired at the end of April and the first bricks were delivered in May. The official opening was celebrated in September 2023. „The market in Texas is growing. Around 50 per cent of all facades are made with clinker bricks, and the state‘s population is growing disproportionately,“ says Röben Managing Director Wilhelm-Renke Röben. One reason for this is that many large companies are moving from California, which is now overpriced, to Texas, including the e-car company Tesla, for example.
The plant technology for the new factory was supplied by Direxa Engineering from Lakewood, Colorado, and the furnace was built by Herrop Industries from Columbus, Ohio. Together with the three plants in North Carolina, the Röben subsidiary Triangle Brick produces a total of around 470 million units in „modular format“, making it the fourth-largest clinker manufacturer in the USA and the largest privately owned US brick company.
The Röben Group is a family business in its 6th generation and, according to its own information, the largest private manufacturer of brick products in Germany. In 14 state-of-the-art plants in Europe and the USA, a total of 1300 employees produce sustainable products of the future: clinker bricks, roof tiles, porcelain stoneware and prefabricated brick parts for planners and builders worldwide.
