Aerial-photo-based condition monitoring of roof
areas and masonry façades
Recording and documenting the condition of large and difficult-to-access roof areas and masonry façades is very expensive in terms of time, logistics, personnel as well as financially. At the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, alternative processes and methods are developed for efficient (automated) condition monitoring of buildings on the basis of high-resolution aerial photo data. One focus is research on the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in monitoring the condition of buildings. The rapid technical development of professional aerial systems now permits safe use at a short distance from the building and automated imaging of the building, even in critical weather conditions. Processing of the aerial photos to 3D building data and high-resolution orthophotos for automated damage analysis and documentation are another focus of the research.
