Christian Bruch to succeed DGfM Managing Director Dr Ronald Rast
Christian Bruch will become the new managing director of the German Society for Masonry and Housing Construction (DGfM) on 1 April 2023. The 50-year-old lawyer for construction and architectural law will replace Dr Ronald Rast, who has headed the umbrella organisation of the masonry block producing industry since 2004 and will take his well-deserved retirement after 18 years at the end of April 2023.
Bruch is no stranger to the construction industry: from 2013 to 2020, he was Federal Managing Director of BFW Bundesverband Freier Immobilien- und Wohnungsunternehmen and from 2011 to 2013 Managing Director of GDI Gesamtverband Dämmstoffindustrie.
“I am certain that Christian Bruch is excellently suited to succeed him on the DGfM Executive Board. He has many years of experience in association work, brings with him the necessary building materials and housing construction expertise and is very well networked in federal politics,” says Dr Ronald Rast in praise of his successor.
Strong representation of interests with a high reputation
“Under Dr. Rast’s management, the German Society for Masonry and Housing Construction has developed into a strong interest group that enjoys a high reputation in both state and federal politics. I look forward to further developing the DGfM and leading it into the future with my own impulses,” says Bruch.
For DGfM Board Chairman Dr Hannes Zapf, the unanimous board vote for Christian Bruch is the optimal solution for succession in order to meet future challenges: “In view of the Ukraine war, our industry must switch to renewable energies even faster and accelerate the transformation towards climate-neutral construction production. Through his work in energy, sustainability and environmental committees, Christian Bruch brings the necessary know-how to this task.”
The old and new managing directors will jointly lead the DGfM from 1 January 2023 as part of a three-month induction and handover phase, until Bruch then officially takes over the managing director’s post on 1 April 2023.
