New Sacmi kiln for El Aguila for the production of 60 000 clay roofing tiles per day
Sacmi Heavy Clay has concluded a major supply contract with the leading Mexican clay brick and tile maker, El Aguila. Sacmi has already supplied one innovative 120-m-long roller kiln with a width of 2 890 mm. This has already been installed and commissioned and it has enabled El Aguila to increase its production to 60 000 units per day.
In the Sacmi kiln mainly pressed Portuguese roofing tiles are fired, El Aguila estimating the annual output to be in the order of 20 mill. tiles. The new kiln and automatic robot-assisted palletizing line – also supplied by Sacmi – will be added to the existing plant. According to Sacmi, the factory is the only one in the world currently making extruded, re-pressed Portuguese tiles that utilize the advantages of both rapid drying technology and firing in roller kilns without kiln furniture.
