CRH Group takes two brick awards
At the request of DSDHA, the responsible British architects, CRH Clay Solutions produced more than 300 000 façade clinkers with the unusual dimensions 290 mm x 90 mm x 52 mm at their Upper Lusatian/Saxonian plant. The special run of Cottbus clinkers, with their natural bluish-red, mottled brown play of colours, comes very close to typical English colours.
The Brick Awards, which count among Great Britain‘s oldest, most distinguished design prizes, honour top-notch achievements in brick design and construction. The Brick Development Association (BDA) in London bestowed the first such awards 33 years ago. The jury of three was very enthusiastic about the building‘s architectural concept centring on the dark-hued Cottbus façade clinkers from Germany. Christ‘s College Guildford, consisting of two building complexes of different size, was created by British builder Wates Construction in cooperation with DSDHA. Despite their different elevations, the two brick buildings form a harmonious ensemble characterized by uniform architecture of progressive design.
