Second WISBA study course for sustainable building
Sustainable building starts on the drawing board. Architects, building and civil engineers have to think about sustainability when they design and plan buildings. The basic principles of sustainable building have to be conveyed during study. This is the declared mission of the Wienerberger Sustainable Building Academy (WISBA). WISBA is an international education programme that Wienerberger AG established in 2013 in cooperation with Graz University of Technology, Leibniz University of Hanover, Warsaw University of Technology and Vienna University of Economics and Business. In projects like “The environmental footprint of nearly zero-energy buildings” or “Resource-efficient wall systems”, the students learn what is important when it comes to sustainable building. In the first course in the winter term 2013/14, twelve students from three countries took part in WISBA. In the new course 2014/15, this number will increase to 28 students from six countries. New are ETH Zürich, the Catholic University of Leuven, Budapest University of Technology, Economics and Business and Munich University of Technology. On 15 September, the WISBA course 2014/15 commences with students of architecture and civil engineering. Four students from Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Poland and Switzerland as well as eight from Germany will then be selected by an international committee. All costs for participation in the workshops will be paid by Wienerberger. Following conclusion of the programme, selected students will be able to complete a work placement at Wienerberger.
