Dr. Matthias Frederichs – new General Secretary of the Federal German Association of the Clay Brick and Tile Industry
The Federal German Association of the Brick and Tile Industry (BV) has a new General Secretary: as of 1 October 2017, Dr. Matthias Frederichs joined the General Secretariat and has performed the associated duties together with Martin Roth up to the end of the year. After 19 years serving the German brick and tile industry, Roth retired at the end of the year. Since 1 January 2018, Dr. Matthias Frederichs has taken over sole responsibility for the work.
Dr. Frederichs has wide-ranging experience in the construction materials industry. Originally from Cloppenburg, the 38-year-old was previously four years General Secretary of the Association of German Construction Materials Industry – Non-Metallic Minerals in Berlin. From 2008 to 2011, he worked as a consultant on industry and economic policy for the Federal Association of the German Cement Industry in Berlin.
Now that the BV has moved into its new premises in the centre of Berlin, Dr. Frederichs will be helped in his lobbying work by his numerous contacts in the German capital. The new man in the Brick and Tile Association also worked as a scientific assistant for a member of the Bundestag in Berlin and General Secretary of the Lower Saxony Association of the Economic Board of the CDU.
Dr. Frederichs is approaching his work with great zeal: “I am looking forward to my new professional challenge. With the election of the new President Stefan Jungk in May, the Brick and Tile Association now has new leadership. It is our common goal to further develop this tradition-steeped association, adding our own signature, and to strengthen representation of the political interests. To this end, I hope for broad support in the clay brick and tile industry.”
