12.9% more dwellings permitted in Germany in 2013
In 2013, construction of around 270 400 dwellings was permitted in Germany. As Destatis, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, reported, that was 12.9% or just under 30 900 dwellings more than in 2012, continuing the positive trend that began in 2010 (2010: + 5.5%, 2011: + 21.7% and 2012: + 4.8%).
Of the dwellings permitted in 2013, just under 235 500 were newbuilds in residential buildings (+ 11.5% compared to 2012). The increase in approvals for dwellings in apartment buildings (+ 22.3%) was much higher than the increase in approvals for dwellings in semi-detached houses (+ 13.3%). Approvals...
