9.5% more homes constructed in Germany in 2012
In 2012, around 200 500 newbuild homes were completed in Germany, that is 17 400 homes or 9.5% more than in the previous year. The increase was not as substantial as in 2011 (+ 14.6%), but considerably higher than in 2010 (+ 0.5%).
In terms of residential buildings, in 2012 a total of 176 000 newbuild homes were completed (+ 9.6% compared to 2011). The highest growth was registered in apartment buildings with + 16.0%, followed by detached houses with + 4.0%. The completion of homes in residential buildings with two dwellings remained almost unchanged (+ 0.4%).
The developed space for completed non-residential buildings increased to 187.5 mill. m³ (+ 7.1% compared to 2011). This increase can be attributed exclusively to private building owners (+ 9.5%). The developed space for public buildings on the other hand decreased by 13.8% compared to 2011.
