Promotion needed for more balanced EU legislation

The European Commission (EC) recently commissioned a French consultancy, Bio Intelligence Service, to carry out a study on the management of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste in the European Union (EU). As C&D waste accounts for approximately 25% by volume of all waste generated in the EU, it is now a priority legislative target. The revised EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) requires Member States (MS) to take the necessary measures to recycle a minimum of 70% of non-hazardous C&D waste by 2020.
