Safety inspection of gas systems
Gas pressure regulating systems and thermoprocessing equipment as well as gas networks are not only subject to changes in standards. The technical details are also subject to change over the course of time. This paper provides information on what precautions must be taken by operators of a gas system to ensure the technical safety of such systems.
1 Introduction
Industrial systems that are supplied with gases from the public grid are subject to the act on electricity and gas supply – the German Energy Industry Act EnWG [1].
The central safety requirement of the EnWG is formulated in § 49, Paragraph 1: “Energy installations shall be installed and operated in such a manner as to guarantee technical safety. The generally accepted engineering rules shall be followed in this case, unless otherwise stipulated in other legislation”.
