A warm welcome to Munich!
Dear readers,
After a two-year “dry spell”, at last it’s time again to meet up face-to-face and interact live and in technicolour. The last ceramitec took place four years back and, just a few weeks ago, who would have thought that we would be looking forward to a trade fair from 21 – 24 June that would hardly differ from previous events. We have always been optimistic that this key meeting for the industry would be able to take place without any major restrictions. But even our expectations with regard to the relaxation of Covid19 regulations have been far exceeded. The regrettable impact of two years of the pandemic is that relief has not come in time for some exhibitors to take part at the trade fair. But it has also been shown that it is important to many companies – especially in the technical ceramics, whitewares, raw materials, powder metallurgy and kilns sectors – to exhibit and offer visitors a port of call at the trade fair. And for participants, it is now very easy again to book a trip and spontaneously plan a visit to the trade fair.
The innovativeness of the ceramics industry didn’t just dry up during lockdown. Quite the opposite, and that is good. The world needs more resource-efficient processes and products more than ever. Without personal contact, their way into the field is often longer and sometimes not possible at all. With the sheer diversity in our industry, many an idea is sparked by chance meetings. An industry that is so closely connected through processes, products and users lives from face-to-face interaction. Suppliers, experts in plants and processes, manufacturers of ceramic products have to get together to understand what exactly it’s all about.
ceramitec as a platform for new ideas
ceramitec is the platform at which new ideas are developed, and consequently successful business deals done. Precisely for this purpose, visitors meet up with right-fit exhibitors, and together with renowned partners like this magazine, we bring the sharpest thinkers in our industry onto the platforms of our forums.
So, a programme has been put together that has never been as colourful and diverse. Selecting topics was difficult, especially as our material shows so much potential for future technologies. Together with our partners, we have been able to easily fill up double the space with two forums with new topics. Besides new applications for our high-performance materials, trade fair visitors can find ideas there that make the production processes and the products even better.
Four days long, three halls and two platforms come down to a common denominator: ceramitec 2022, fulfilling a wish that brings us back to Munich.
Your sincerely
Dr Robert Schönberger
