Belgian masonry brick industry – back in recession in 2012

Following a period of recession, by the end of 2010 the industry was hoping for economic recovery. But while economic growth could be observed in the first two quarters of 2011, the economic climate steadily deteriorated again after that. The negative trend continued in 2012.

For the first quarter of 2012, growth of 0.4% could still be registered, in the course of the next quarters, however, came a decline of 0.3%. In less than four years, Belgium found itself in a second period of recession.
