The energy policy framework up to 2030 is currently being discussed in Europe. The proposal for “2030 Framework” is based essentially on a binding greenhouse gas reduction target of -40% (basis 1990–2030). The share of renewable energies in the final energy consumption is set to be 27% by 2030. For energy efficiency, the Commission proposes an ambitious 30-% savings goal (the 2020 goal is 20%).
