Economic and energy potential of roof renovation

When it comes to the question of which renovation measure is particularly prudent and economically efficient for existing building stock, renovation of the roof is generally given as the answer.

The question why that is the case and what potential can be mobilized with such measures for achieving the 2030/2050 climate protection goals can only be answered on the basis of solid facts. To this end, the Federal German Association of the Brick and Tile Industry has commissioned the Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz e.V. (FIW, Thermal Insulation Research Institute) in Munich to assess on the basis of the dena/geea building model the current housing stock in Germany by building type, construction year category, building components, energetic condition (renovated, partly renovated, unrenovated). The findings of the study are designed to show the economic and energetic potential of the renovation of pitched roof structures in Germany and provide specific recommendations for formulating energy and subsidy policy.

The talk provides information on key findings of the FIW study.
