Obituary for Hans-Joachim Rauch
28.03.2024Hans-Joachim Rauch, long-time Managing Director of Tonindustrie Heisterholz in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, passed away on 4 March 2024 at the age of 79.
Hans-Joachim Rauch, born on 24 August 1944, had been Managing Director of Tonindustrie Heisterholz since the early 1970s after studying to become a lawyer. He shared this role with his brother Ernst-Peter Rauch until the latter left the company in 1999. As sole managing partner, he initiated the takeover of the company by Lafarge-Dachsysteme GmbH a year later. Rauch moved to the supervisory board of Lafarge-Dachsysteme, of which he was a member until 2005.
Hans-Joachim Rauch was also very involved in the life of the association. For 20 years, he headed the socio-political committee of the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry (BVZi). For many years, he played a key role in shaping the BVZi's collective bargaining work. He distinguished himself as a skilful negotiator in the often very difficult talks with the trade unions. He was a member of the board of the Northwest Trade Association for over 30 years and had a strong voice in the association's decisions.
His colleagues from the association and the company will remember his deeply humane attitude and very approachable manner as well as his entrepreneurial spirit.
