70th anniversary of the Keramlabor
“The best age is - now”, said Dipl.-Geologe Holger Kreth, head of the laboratory, on the day of honour. In a small ceremony, the employees commemorated the long and eventful history of the company together with the long-time head of the laboratory, Dr.-Ing. Dietrich Janssen.
The idea of founding an industry-specific laboratory originated as early as 1951 from Mr. Schifferdecker, then owner of the brickworks in Trittau. So it was obvious for the founding members to elect him as the first chairman of the then young association based in Hamburg.
On 6 May 1953, the Keramisch-Technologische Bau-stofflaboratorium e. V. was entered in the register of associations and since then has fulfilled the purpose of testing, monitoring and certifying, mainly in the field of ceramic building materials and their manufacturing companies.
On 30 September 1954, the laboratory was officially recognised for the first time by a decree of the Minister for Labour, Social Affairs and Displaced Persons of the State of Schleswig-Holstein by publication in the Official Gazette.
Since 1968, the Keramlabor has been located at its present site in Reinbek with its current staff of 8. The laboratory includes all the necessary facilities required for testing in accordance with European standards.
Through close cooperation with the Güteschutz Ziegel e. V. and the committed activity in standards working groups and committees of the Bundesverband der Ziegelindustrie e. V., Keramlabor is actively involved in the sustainable quality assurance of ceramic building materials.
Since the association was founded, almost 45,000 certificates and reports have been produced.
The employees, who see themselves as the “Keramlabor family”, look back with pride on this special event and into the future.
