Commissioning of the “Likolor” brick plant in Novosibirsk by Keller HCW GmbH

With an impressive opening ceremony, the brick plant was started up in Novosibirsk in the urban district of Kirovski on Friday, 31 July 2009.

An area of 7 ha is available for the modern plant and its infrastructure. The “Likolor” brick plant has
an output of 63 million standard-sized bricks per year and was designed to supply the investor itself, one of the largest construction companies of Novosibirsk, “Perwy stroitelny fond”, as well as other regional construction companies.

“The orders are already on hand. Approx. 60% are for our own use and the remaining 40% will be sold. The first bricks will be
delivered to our building sites in the “rayons” regions of Perwomaiski, Leninski and Zajelzowski. Our principal customers will be
my colleagues; construction companies from the Novosibirsk region”, said Majis Mamedow, chairman of the “Perwy stroitelny fond”, to journalists after the opening ceremony.

The manufacturing costs for facing bricks amount to approx. 3.5 to 4 roubles per brick. According to a statement of M. Mamedow, such a cost could be achieved because of the
automation degree of the production line. The equipment for the brick plant was delivered by the German firm Keller HCW GmbH.

The total investment sum for the project amounted to around 2 billion roubles.
Approx. 80% of the borrowed funds came from the Nomos-Bank and according to Alexander Roiko the credit line was opened for a period of six years. Due to the crisis in the construction sector the conditions could be revised, however the financing of the project would be stopped in no case.

“The plant must not be abandoned. Firstly, at the moment we are facing difficult times and secondly the winter period is just around the corner. This leads to a reduction in demand meaning that new credits have to be made available so that funds will be passed. In order to sell the bricks you have to participate in State programmes which also require bank guarantees”, explained A. Roiko.

According to Viktor Tolokonski, Governor of
the Novosibirsk region, the technology used in the plant for the production of bricks is state-of-the-art and at
the same time the only one of its kind in the whole of Western Siberia.

“The support of the State bodies ensured the fast tracking of the project as well as the search for and allocation of a suitable building site. Today everything must be done, so that there will be a real demand for these individual products and our construction companies, who actually buy their bricks in Krasnojarsk or the Baltic states, start to buy them here”, explained Wladimir Gorodetzki, the Mayor of Novosibirsk.

The plant is situated in the Kirov region of Novosibirsk. The building site was chosen because the clay quarry Werch-Tulinskoje, with an area of 32.7 ha and which is the raw material basis of the new brick production, is located 8 km away from the plant. This raw material is composed of 80% clay and 20% sand.

“Perwy stroitelny fond” is a company with several business areas, the activities of which are in the building sector. Its strategy consists in the provision of the complete range of building works – starting with the production of concrete and bricks, up to complete turnkey projects.
