Roofing tile production shut down at Malsch site
56 jobs have been affected by the shutdown. There are plans to maintain the loading yard and dispatch at the site.
At the production site, which is part of the Belgian Etex Group, Creaton brand clay roofing tiles had been produced up to the closure. “On account of the uncertain market situation and the negative price trend, sale of the tiles produced cannot be guaranteed in future”, says Dr. Sebastian Dresse, Creaton’s Managing Director. “Both in technical and economic respects, there is no alternative to the closure of the production plant in Malsch.”
The clay roofing tile plant in Malsch formerly owned by Trost Dachkeramik GmbH & Co. KG was acquired by Creaton GmbH, part of the Etex Group, in 2008. Production of Galant and Viva tiles ceased with the closure of the plant. Demand for the Maxima tile will be met in future by the Polish plant in Widziszewo.
