Wienerberger launches BIM and product data tool

With WienerbergerConnect, this clay construction materials manufacturer is market launching a groundbreaking building information modelling (BIM) and product data tool. Wienerberger GmbH has scheduled its multi-stage implementation in Germany for the latter half of 2019.

WienerbergerConnect

WienerbergerConnect is a flexible, web-based tool that puts all Wienerberger products at disposal in all relevant BIM software formats. This ensures high-level compatibility, enabling BIM objects to be generated in numerous different software object formats, including Autodesk Revit, ARCHICAD, Tekla, Allplan and Trimble SketchUp.

The information provided is always consistent and up to date. Moreover, the data is tailored to local standards and requirements. WienerbergerConnect is available in ten languages, and the data are structured in accordance with ISO and CEN specifications. The tool maps international and local standards and automatically updates data sheets, brochures and much more.

Datasets and 3D objects can be downloaded either individually or together in order to maintain parametric functionality. Products can be filtered according to their respective product data and features. Architects and contractors can therefore access the data they need in the proper format and accommodate them to their own requirements.

This new product data tool by Wienerberger not only caters to pure CAD models and BIM objects, but also enables product visualization by means of configurator software, 3D glasses and augmented reality. And just for good measure, the tool is said to enable control of 3D-BIM and CAD parts via Wii remote control.

Despite all its many options, WienerbergerConnect is designed to minimize media utilization. Thus, “only“ the required data are called up in each phase of the construction project, and “only“ in the required format. Whenever any product is altered, all associated data are updated and the customers automatically informed.

For each Wienerberger BIM data object, the product properties, performance characteristics, maintenance requirements, warranty periods and contact data are displayed first. In the future, the data will be continuously expanded to include information regarding lead times, prices and a lot more.
