08.09.2010 News: Deutsche Messe AG Strengthens its International Department
Deutsche Messe AG announced today that it is further expanding its International Department in order to take advantage of growth potential in overseas markets.Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Board at Deutsche Messe AG responsible for international operations, said, "We have excellent conditions for further expansion abroad, especially with the industrial trade fairs of Hannover Messe. In the future we must proactively pursue and take advantage of new opportunities in overseas markets.”
Wolfgang Pech (50), currently head of the Hannover Messe division, will become on November 1, 2010, a managing director at Deutsche Messe’s Hannover Messe International (HMI) subsidiary. In his new position, Pech will be responsible for Hannover Messe and CeMAT events that take place in overseas markets, including PTC Asia, CeMAT Asia, WIN: World of Industry Istanbul, MDA India, CeMAT India, and the new Industrial Trade Fair Moscow.
"During the course of his long-standing responsibility for Hannover Messe and CeMAT, Wolfgang Pech has developed outstanding strategic vision and a broad international network. He will provide the guidance and experience that our expansion strategy requires,” explained Gruchow, noting that Pech had already from 2000 to 2008 successfully launched Hannover Messe and CeMAT-branded events in China, India and Turkey.
Following the reorganization, HMI will assume responsibility for all Deutsche Messe events outside of Germany. HMI managing director Wolfgang Lenarz will retain responsibility for all other existing trade fairs abroad in such areas as flooring, infrastructure, IT, life sciences, and woodworking machinery and tools. Lenarz is also in charge of developing new trade fair concepts and themes.Götz Dörmann remains responsible for international operations such as subsidiaries and sales representatives, co-operations and partnerships, and investments. "This reorganization and the related personnel decisions are an important step in moving ahead with our growth strategy," said Gruchow.
Manfred Kutzinski, who is already in charge of CeMAT in Hannover, will on November 1, 2010, join HMI and assume responsibility for all materials handling and logistics fairs worldwide. "We are centralizing the operation of the CeMAT brand so that we will better meet the needs of the industry and our customers," said Gruchow. Kutzinski is also responsible in 2011 for directing all MDA events in Hannover and abroad.
Oliver Frese (43) will succeed Pech as head of the Hannover Messe division. Frese was for four years the department head in charge of the Energy, Power Plant Technology and Wind sectors at Hannover Messe.Frese also successfully launched in 2010 the Mobilitec component of Hannover Messe. "Under Oliver Frese’s leadership, Hannover Messe has become the world’s largest trade fair for energy technology," said Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, adding, “He understands the market in detail and is highly creative. Hannover Messe is passing into the best hands."
