19.11.2009 News: Saie 2009 - Building responds with dynamism
Saie has successfully concluded in Bologna, bursting with events and initiatives aimed at relaunching the industry.
166,426 professionals and 1,530 exhibitors (320 from abroad) are the highly positive numbers achieved at the conclusion of the 2009 edition.
The building industry responded with great participation and dynamism, with only a slight decline in visitors compared with last year (about 5%). These results demonstrate the interest in the focuses proposed at this edition of Saie: energy efficiency, social housing, innovation. Subjects of great relevance, and the key to success for relaunching the industry.
As Gualtiero Seva, Division Manager of Mitsubishi Electric Fotovoltaico, notes, “Even in this critical time for the market, we found great attention and interest in new technologies for the innovative use of energy. There were many contacts in this field, showing that the integration of architecture and technologies to achieve energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important in the building industry.”
“I am totally satisfied,” says Nicola De Carlo of De Carlo Infissi, “because I believe that Saie is the main reference point for building: thanks to the materials and technologies presented and to the way frames are considered an integral part of the process. I my opinion, our company was successfully put in touch with the industry in which we operate.”
“I am satisfied by the results of Saie 2009,” states Gianni Scotti, president of Gruppo Saint Gobain Italia. “I believe in this exhibition so much that we have a stand at both SaieEnergia and at Saie. It is an absolute reference point, offering a complete and innovative approach to building and energy efficiency, even in sectors like glass walls, which have been missing from trade exhibitions for some time.”
“The association that I lead,” emphasises Gianfranco Di Cesare, Marketing Director of Andil Assolaterizi, “sponsors Saie in Bologna to demonstrate our trust in its winning strategies, as confirmed in this edition as well despite the critical situation in the building industry.”
Saie 2009 gave great importance to new building cultures, offering a full programme of events and workshops on a wide variety of subjects.
The result was a Saie that stimulated the industry, a strategic event in terms of business planning, range of exhibitors, and market analysis tools. These tools included the first SaieEnergia Report, written for Saie by Cresme, studying the most promising and dynamic sphere of the industry: projects to achieve energy efficiency and their economic impact.
Equally as interesting was the response of final users, who showed great attention to matters regarding energy efficiency and upgrading of buildings. In fact, a random survey revealed that “33.0% of Italian families took steps to reduce home energy consumption in the last 5 years, and 65.4% of families believe that energy upgrading work in buildings increases their value by an estimated 18%.”
Among this edition’s new features was the SAIESELECTION Low Cost Low Energy Sustainable Housing international competition, devoted to energy-efficient solutions and social housing designs proposed by young architects (under 45) and students, and the “Premio Sostenibilità Ambientale e Sociale per il Comune,” which awarded the finest and most advanced design in terms of energy efficiency and innovation in building.
