Together against blood cancer | DKMS stem cell donation at Keller HCW in Ibbenbüren
Every 16 minutes, somebody in Germany is diagnosed with blood cancer, many of them are children and adolescents. For many patients the transfer of healthy stem cells is the only hope of survival. However, many of them do not find a suitable donor. Therefore, together with other companies of the industrial network Industrieverbund Ibbenbüren and the DKMS gGmbH, the German Bone Marrow Donor Center, a non-profit company, Keller HCW took part in the industrial network Industrieverbund Ibbenbüren acceptance campaign to recruit potential stem cell donors.
Living together in solidarity
The "World Blood Cancer Day" on 28 May was the worldwide day of action in the fight against blood cancer. On this day, solidarity with patients was demonstrated everywhere in the world and international attention was brought to this issue.
Giving hope together
The industrial network Industrieverbund Ibbenbüren wanted to help recruiting new potential stem cell donors and organised a registration campaign in cooperation with the German Bone Marrow Donor Center (DKMS) for all employees within the industrial network. At seven locations altogether, the companies, supported by their local works councils, provided suitable rooms and "life-saving sets" for this campaign. Participating in the Ibbenbüren region were Crespel & Deiters GmbH & Co. KG, Hermann Kröner GmbH, Wiewelove GmbH, Teutoburger Ölmühle GmbH, IVD GmbH & Co. KG, Gerhardi Kunststofftechnik GmbH and Keller HCW GmbH. A large number of employees at Keller HCW have registered with the German Bone Marrow Donor Center at the end of May.
