Equipceramic Commissions Packaging Line for Ladrillería Mecanizada
Equipceramic, S.A., the Spanish plant engineering company, is consolidating its international expansion with the successful commissioning of a fully automated packaging installation for the company Ladrillería Mecanizada S.A. in Monterey, Mexico.
Ladrillería Mecanizada, S.A. is one of the most important manufacturers and exporters of clay roofing tiles, floor tiles, bricks and other heavy clay products in Mexico. Equipceramic, S.A. supplied the equipment for the dehacking, package making and palletizing lines for one of its brickworks located in Monterrey. This produces a wide range of products, such as: King Kong bricks, hollow bricks, insulating bricks, ceiling blocks and terracotta panels. The goal of the project was to produce high-quality dispatch packages adapted to the trade requirements in the United States.
The project designed by Equipceramic was based on two main axes: improving the quality of the final product and providing flexibility while adapting to the already existing equipment in the factory.
The first section of the packaging line consists of a programmable table for the suitable arrangement of rows of products. It is equipped with a turning device for setting products in a flat position if required. Dispatch packages are made by means of a robot. This provides significant advantages, such as the possibility to make different package formats, with or without pallet, an optimized production cycle and the required smooth, accurate handling to result in high-quality final products.
The line has been equipped with a special mechanism to automatically place corner guards to protect products when packages are transported without pallets. Packages are strapped by means of two strapping machines, one for the horizontal strap and the other for the vertical one. The last step in the line is the stretch film wrapping of dispatch packages.
Packages on pallets (1200 x 1000 mm) are horizontally and vertically strapped and then they are automatically wrapped in stretch film.
The cooperation between the teams of both companies has been vital to successfully complete the start-up of the project in accordance with the established planning param-eters.
